Ruben Amorim has reportedly taken his first Manchester United training session as the club's new head coach following the approval of his visa.

ToggleAccording to ESPN, the 39-year-old took charge of the session at Carrington on Monday — a couple of weeks after being named as United's new boss. The report adds that the Red Devils players who weren't on international duty took part in the session, including Marcus Rashford and Casemiro. Moreover, the majority of the Portuguese's backroom staff have reportedly received their work permits as well.

Amorim has a huge task on his hands at United following the sacking of his predecessor Erik ten Hag last month. They are 13th in the Premier League, are struggling to score goals, and have lacked a clear playing style and identity in recent times. The former Sporting CP boss may need to hit the ground running, or else the pressure will ramp up on him.
Amorim played alongside United legend Cristiano Ronaldo between 2010-14 for their native Portugal. The former midfielder, who made a name for himself at Benfica, racked up 14 caps for his country in that period.
Amorim, whose contract runs until 2027, will hold his first news conference later this week ahead of United's trip to lowly Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon.
